Marion Kehl-Grant BHS '67

Recently found another friendly face on Facebook that was in our class of '67! However, I could not find her photo in any of our yearbooks, so when I asked Marion about it, she sent this reply:

Hi Cathy,
Yes, sadly I noticed that, too. I did not go to BHS all three years. I originally came from Germany in 1963.

Started in 9th Grade at Toll Jr. High in Glendale, then to Hoover HS. Shortly after that we moved and I attended Glendale High. Only went to BHS half my junior and my senior year and then graduated from BHS.

I did work on the paper and yearbook for a couple of classes. So there might be some pic on there, but I guess not. My senior pic is not in there, because my Dad (he's a whole other story) decided I didn't need that.

Even though I don't remember a lot of people from then, I do appreciate you including me with your newsletters and updates. I look forward to it, but am not really able to contribute too much.

Thank you so much for all your effort on this work. You are doing a fantastic job. I like where you live - very pretty. I live in Tucson, AZ right now, and we will probably retire here. So...even though there are no pics in the yearbooks, I did actually graduate from there. I guess my closer friends during that time were Patricia Durrer and Ramona Candelaria. Thanks for everything and I will keep reading your wonderful newsletters.

Junior Achievement

Was it in junior high or high school that I was in Junior Achievement? Anyway it was fun setting up a business, then producing and selling a product. My team made stryofoam snowmen which had red noses that lit up. Cute but not as cool as the skateboards that the Holst twins produced!

Big thanks to the Nicholls twins for the above article. I'm amazed but thankful that ya'll have kept stuff like this for so long and are willing to share it!

PS I'm told that the Holst twins were in a few Doublement gum commercials. If anyone can find a clip or photo of this that we can post, please send to me at cathyjpalmer@yahoo.com. Thanks!

Scott Nave

Got an email from Scott Nave '67, so asked him what's he been up to the last 40 years or so - lol! And here's his reply - thanks so much, Scott, for the update and great Emerson pic!

Cathy,

Good to hear back from you. A brief update on the last 40 years, . . wow?! After BHS '67, graduated from San Diego State in '71 and USC Business School in '73. I've worked in Human Resources for the past 36 years in various industries; Banking, Theme Park (HR Mgr at Magic Mountain), Motion Picture, and now Engineering locally in Monrovia with WorleyParsons.

I've been married for 28 years [Marsha] (not to compare with Dave /Dawn Horrigan @ 40 !!) with one grown, married daughter [Jan]. Living back in Burbank after many years in Pasadena. Planning on retirement down the road a bit to the Central Coast (Avila Beach) where we have a home.

Cheers,

Scott

Jim Stonehouse

Yesterday, received the following email from Jim Stonehouse and found the above photo from our 9th grade John Muir Jr High 1964 Highlander - good to hear from you, Jim, and happy belated birthday!

Hello Cathy,

Although I don't remember you at school because I was booted out of BHS in 65, my parents moved out of the area, I do remember a lot of the alumni. I attended George Washington elementary and Muir Jr Hi before BHS. I only spent one semester there. Kent Barcus was one of my friends, etc.

Anyway, I was looking at the Daily News Obits today, Oct 1 09, my 60th Bday and saw Bonnie Pease in there. I see that she had a daughter named Linda. I went to school with Linda Pease and I see she is on the latest blog from BHS in the Muir after school sports pic. I also ran cross country at BHS in 64 and Fred Ortega was our star champion. He and his family lived right across the street from us, as a matter of fact I had a crush on his sister Chris. Anyway, I thought it was very strange to find her name twice today! Small world Eh?

I also have the same car my folks drove me to school in. It's in my profile. Jim Stonehouse on classmates. Thanks for keeping this going. I still live in the SFV.

God Bless,
Jim

Muir 9th Grade Girls' After-School Sports

Who's that girl?? I think she's Kathleen Bryan!

Donna Luce Neitman sent the following photos today - thanks Donna!!

Hey Cathy,

I want you to post this picture on the blog as Cathy and I are trying to figure out who is in this picture.

Top row: Linda Green, Carol Nichols, Donna Luce, Cathy Nichols

Bottom row: Linda Pease, Elaine Morton, Sue Adams and ????

We are guessing Kathy Bryan or Margaret Greene?

This picture was taken as a group shot for the 1964 Highlander from John Muir Jr. High.

I so enjoy reading and seeing all the great pics on your blog.

Thanks, Donna
