OCT 24, 2017 UPDATE FROM FACEBOOK
A beautiful tribute by daughter, Becky Earle
I've been fairly silent on Facebook because I couldn't seem to form the words, but I think I'm ready......
My mother passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday evening. It was very sudden and unexpected. She had shoulder surgery on Tuesday and had struggled during the week. We had been in and out of the ER three times. She was home resting in her recliner. When we went to wake her up to give her medication, she didn't respond. Coda (Jon & Cara's dog) noticed she was gone first. He nudged into her and whimpered. At that moment, she was gone. The paramedics and doctor worked on her for at least an hour to no avail. We didn't ask for an autopsy, but we're fairly sure she died from a blood clot because it came on so suddenly.
There are not enough words to express how wonderful my mother is/was. I was very lucky and blessed to be her daughter. I'm sure there were plenty of times when I drove her a bit crazy, but she was always full of love and support. She had my back no matter what. She wasn't just my mother, but my best friend. She had wonderful advice when I needed it and lent an ear to listen to whatever problem I had. She was never judgemental; she only wanted what was best for me and tried to help however she could. After she retired, she would visit my classroom at least 2-3 times a year to help. She said it was payback for when I helped her at school, but I think she just liked to do it.
I can't remember who it was, but a cousin mentioned that she was the glue that held the extended family together. There couldn't be truer words. She loved all her family (immediate and extended) more than we probably will ever know. She loved family reunions, gatherings and camping trips. It was a lot of work, but I think she even enjoyed gathering the Jones Newsletters because she was reading about her family while she put it together.
I miss her so much! I know that she is reunited with her parents. I know she is running and swimming without any pain. That makes me so happy. Yet, my life will never be the same now that she is gone. I'll just have to take it a day at a time and try to live my life in a way that would honor her. I already know of many traditions that she started and we plan to continue. Extended family may be relieved to know I plan to continue her work with the Jones Newsletter. I've always known it was my job when she was done. I just never expected it to be this soon.
I am blessed to have so many wonderful friends and family nearby. I feel so supported and loved. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I am grateful for all the kind words that you have shared on Facebook. In the near future, I will be gathering those for remembrance. If you would like to elaborate or share those with me again, I would appreciate them being sent to my email: beckyearle@gmail.com.

She was the second of three daughters. She grew up in Burbank and graduated with a teaching degree from Brigham Young University. Barbara enjoyed her weekly hot tub gatherings with retired teacher friends. For 20 years, she produced and edited the Jones Family Newsletter.
