Sara Lee Marino Becaria, BHS '67 (1948-2019)

Sara Lee Marino Becaria
December 26, 1948 - December 28, 2019

So sad to learn that Sara has left us! Heaven is richer today but we lost a beautiful, precious friend.

Today Pam Hawkins Swan wrote me, "Cathy, Sara Marino passed away this morning at 3:30 am."

Sara and I were buddies throughout elementary school beginning in Kindergarten at Miller in Burbank. So many fun memories!

We lost touch over the years but reunited via our class reunions and Facebook.

I knew Sara was in the hospital recovering from surgery and it has been a difficult year for her. Her faith was strong and she always had an encouraging word.

Her last text to me was, "Happy Thanksgiving my dear friend. Blessings and peace on this joyful day. Love, Sara ❤️"

Rest in peace, sweet Sara... you are greatly loved and dearly missed but we will meet again.

Please keep Sara's family in your hearts and prayers... Husband Ed, Sons James and Sam, Sister Carol (BHS '68) along with her many other relatives and countless friends.

Kathleen "Kathy" Bryan, BHS '67 (1949-2019)

Kathleen Louise Bryan

Today, we received the shocking and very sad news as reported by Jeff Bryan, that his sister, Kathleen Bryan, passed away.

Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers.

RIP Kathy...

POSTED 11/8/2019 ON KATHY'S FB WALL

This is Shannon, Kathleen’s daughter. I wanted to share the very sad news that my beautiful, sweet, caring, exceedingly generous, brave, strong and courageous mom passed away suddenly on Sunday.

Her obituary is below, including details regarding her memorial service in Burbank next Saturday, and it will be in the Burbank Leader newspaper tomorrow.

Kathleen Louise Bryan

July 10, 1949 - November 3, 2019

It is with great sadness the family of Kathleen Bryan announces her sudden passing in Tacoma, WA on November 3rd, 2019 – 70 years young.

Kathleen was born to William and Mary Lou Bryan on July 10th, 1949 in Glendale, CA. She grew up in Burbank, CA and attended Burbank High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree at the University of Redlands and a master’s degree at the University of Wisconsin. Over the course of 35 years she was a speech pathologist in Seattle, WA and Newport Beach, CA.

Kathleen was an amazing chef, cookbook collector and devotee of the performing arts. She loved her family and friends fiercely. She is survived by her two children, Bryan and Shannon, her brother Jeff and sister Jennifer, her five nieces and nephews, and seven grandchildren: Henry, Stella, Chase, Lucy, Oliver, Alice and Miles.

She was preceded in death by her parents whom we are so grateful she is back together with. There is a huge hole in our hearts without her.

A service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Burbank on November 16th at 1:30 PM, with a celebration of her life following.

Any donations in memory of Kathleen may be made to the Tacoma Opera, 47 St. Helens Ave, Suite 201, Tacoma, WA 98402.

Words seem inadequate to express the sadness we feel at the tragic loss of Kathleen. Our hearts go out to the family at this time of sorrow. It seems impossible to believe that she is gone. Her life is a reminder to us all that one person CAN make a difference. She will be remembered for many things, but mostly for the beautiful force of her spirit and love. With energy, enthusiasm, and creativity Kathleen made life less stressful and "fun" for lots of people. Extending our sincerest condolences. Forever in our hearts...never forgotten.

John Raymond DeLesley, Jr., BHS '67 (1948-2019)

John R. DeLesley Jr.
March 16, 1948 - March 7, 2019

OBITUARY
John’s passing was so sudden and unexpected, after a six week illness he thought was influenza, that the shock of is passing has left our hearts broken yet still soaring with him, in spirt. No sweeter, kinder and more gentle soul could have accomplished what John did, by enriching our lives with his unique sense of the world, our galaxy, and how we all experience our glorious existence. Johnny leaves us treasuring all he taught us about Human Dignity, Love, Friendship, Spirituality and our lives. He left us so many “Johnnyisms” of delightful stories about his many avocations, including astronomy, spirituality, our humanity and respect; as well as meditation; and his love of photography and “antiquing” for unique books and videos, mostly about the nature of our galaxy and our earth’s animals, geology and geography.

Johnny, as he was often called by friends, worked for over forty years as a desk Manager for The Safari Inn and the Coast Annabelle Hotel, in Burbank, California, where he had resided since 1948. After he received his Associates of Arts at L.A Valley College, he entered the service as a National Guardsman, PFC in the U.S. Military and left with an honorable discharge. He worked for Pacific Telephone, yet received a better offer at the Safari Inn, and remained a loyal and committed employee at both the Safari Inn and the Annabelle Hotel for over forty years. He often spoke of friends, respected colleagues and bosses and of the very loyal guests, who returned over the years, with whom he enjoyed special longstanding relationships, as well.

John is survived by his Beloved sister Susan (Delesley) Reed and his brother in law William Reed; He was a beloved uncle and great uncle of: Kyle (Audra Angelo) Reed; Grand Niece: Lauren, Emily Dale (Whitmayer) Picolla, Olivia Picolla, Michele (Whitmayer) Aggasid, Grand Nephew Trevor Grant (Christine Trang) Reed, Bryce Aggasid. John is preceded in death by his parents; Josephine (Wysocki) DeLesley, John R. DeLesley Sr.; and his sister Mary Lou (DeLesley) Whitmayer.

A special Mention to those who grieve with us: his friends at work have been stunned by his sudden illness and passing, and will be having a gathering Celebration of Life to Memorialize John DeLesley, Services will take place at The Coast Annabelle Hotel/Safari Inn 2011 W. Olive Avenue, Burbank Ca 91506 on Sunday, March 17, 2019 between 4:00pm – 6:00pm. If you wish to attend or send flowers, you may have them delivered to the Coast Anabelle Hotel, in care of Nora.
