Email from Don Ray

Subject: I like the BHS '67 site!

It's really looking cool! Thanks so much for keeping it up and running andeven glistening.

I can only remember movies in Burbank costing 35 cents (90 cents for logeseats -- whatever they were).

Oh, Grand Central Airport is in Glendale -- always was. I can remember driving(riding, OK) down Sonora from San Fernando and going past the north end of therunway on the left. There was a sign that said something like, "Caution. LowFlying Aircraft". How absolutely cool!

I also remember riding with my mom to pick up my dad who worked at Lockheed. In the mid 1950s there were still signs on the fence surrounding the runwaythere that read, "No photographs!" It was left over from the war years.

Also, the other day I went looking for the last remnants of something thataffected all of us. It came to life on the last Friday of each month at, Ithink 10 a.m. (maybe 9 a.m.). Do you remember what it was? I looked for two ofthem that I remembered were in particular places. But they're both gone now --probably all of them. Can you guess?

(Hmmm - Air Raid Siren?? LOL!! Ok, I give up... WHAT?)

Enough. I'll chat with you later.

Again, great job on the blog site.

Update on David Olin

Received this email from Linda Mustion which is now posted on the Memorial Page - thanks so much, Linda, for doing the research:

Hi! Cathy & Cathy.......I am passing on an update of our deceased classmate David Joseph Olin. I found out his brother's name and a phone number for him here in Burbank. His name is Jon Olin. So I called him and as it turns out Jon was a teacher at Burbank High for several years until he retired and does sub. teaching in different schools. Anyhow he told me that his brother and our classmate passed away in 1998 in Burbank of Lymphoma Cancer. David was married and divorced and had remarried but was separated. He was a sailor and had a sailboat and in 1990 he sailed to the South Pacific and ended up being gone 8 years. While in Australia he was diagnosed with cancer and treated there and it went in to submission and then returned. He sold the sailboat and flew back home and was home only for awhile before he passed away. About a week after his death his father had a heart attack and passed away. The family had a double funeral service. David Olin was cremated and his ashes scattered over Catalina Island.

Rebuilding the Athletic Fields at BHS and JBHS

Hi CP:

We went to the Bulldog luncheon today..... Good times.... Good times..... They handed out the pledge card below and Pam Kirkwood scanned it for your blog. They need an additional one million in donations to complete the renovation of the BHS and JBHS Athletic Fields.

Note: Classmates who live in Burbank can look for their Donation Card in their Water and Power bill.
