Terrible news... Jeff Moore passed away yesterday. Please keep Robbin, his widow, and the family in your prayers...

Robbin wrote, "Thanks Cathy... Unfortunately bad news still lingers out there. I lost my dear sweet husband last night. He was also a graduate with us in 1967...Jeffery F. Moore. Please pass this on to all our friends at Burbank. This is a tough time."

Jeffrey F. Moore, 65, passed away at his home in Lake Havasu City, March 5. He was born March 2, 1949 in Palmdale, Calif. to Frank and Harriett Moore.

Jeff worked for Federal Express as a station manager in Yuba City, Calif. before retiring in Browns Valley, Calif. and then relocated to Lake Havasu City seven years ago, making Havasu his home permanently.

Jeff married his lovely wife Robbin, in October of 1994. Jeff is survived by his lovely wife, Robbin; daughter, Kristie Moore and his stepson, John Murphy, who will all miss him deeply.

A celebration of Jeff's life will be at a later date in Lake Havasu with his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jeff's name to Hospice of Havasu.

Just received this sweet but sad note from Jay's sister, Pam.

Jay was a great guy... We went to Miller, Muir and Burbank High together and I am sorry to read this...

Hi Cathy,

I have no earthly idea how I found your blog tonight. I guess it must have been fate. You have done a magnificent job on it.

My brother, Jay Sletten (BHS graduate 1967) died in 2001 of a brain hemorrage. It was extremely quick, he was in no pain. He was with me one second and gone the next.

He had been a neuclear technologist at Kaiser Permanente in Woodland Hills for more than 25 years. He loved his work very much and was so brilliant. His colleagues lovingly called him "Dr. Jay" as he was able to interpret a scan quicker than most of the radiologists.

Losing Jay was the most difficult loss - our dad died 4 months prior to him while our mom died 3 years earlier.  He left behind a beautiful daughter, Amanda, who was only 17 when he died. She is an amazingly strong woman today. I have two kids and three grandkids. Jay sadly never met the grandkids.  I miss him terribly.

I was very saddened to see the loss of Ken Moore on your blog. He and Jay were best buds during their teen years. Matt Hagge was also a part of this three-some. Jay used to refer to them as "Me, Matt, and Moore".

I am so glad to have found your web site.

Sletten, Jay Richard

Died December 28, 2001. Loving father of Amanda, brother of sisters Pam Vargo and Sheila O’Kane; uncle of Christopher Vargo and Lisa Vargo Lindsay.

Born May 18, 1949 in Glendale, CA. Jay was a long time employee of Kaiser Permanente of Woodland Hills in the Department of Nuclear Medicine, and a passionate woodworking hobbyist.

Memorial services will be held at Kaiser Permanente, Woodland Hills, on Thursday, January 3, 2002 at 6:00 PM in Auditorium A and B, Entrance 5.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart Association.

In Loving Memory of James Edward Carson
January 23, 1949 - December 2, 2013

James Edward Carson, a longtime resident of Acton, passed away December 2, 2013, at his home. James was a pillar of strength to his family. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Alma; his son, James; his daughter, Jamie; his grandchildren Jamie, Ricky, Michael, Kyle, Jason, Odessa, Ashley, Brandon and Preston; and four great grandchildren, Marley, Sean, Brayden and Alice.

Jim was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on January 23, 1949. He was the son of Arthella Farrell Carson and Walter Carson. He had five sisters - Gloria, Helen, Lori, Rena and Terri - and one brother, Jeff.

Jim's family moved to California in the 50s, settling in Glendale. Jim attended John Muir Junior High and Burbank High School. It was at Burbank High that he met the love of his life, Alma. They fell into deep, inseparable love for each other and got married a year after high school.

After graduation, Jim pursued his passion for trucking and decided to start his own business. He initially partnered with his father but eventually branched out on his own. He was successful and garnered the opportunity to work for the City of Los Angeles as a contract owner-operator where he made many lifelong friends.

Jim's passion for kids was evident in his baseball coaching. He started in Sylmar and continued on into Acton where he coached his kids and grand-kids at the Sierra Little League. He also dedicated his time to the Acton Arrowheads 4-H Club where he was a swine project leader. He was pro-active when it came to kids, not just for his own, but for the kids in the community. Jim was always there for all the kids he met, and they loved him.

Jim was a great man loved by many. He truly will be missed.
