ReplyDeleteJust received this email from Dave Thomson - very sad to read that his mother just passed away:
Hi Cathy,
Thank you for your note, and I actually do check the school email, but there was only a blank email in the inbox. I was going to ask you about it, but have been dealing with my Mom who has been in hospice care and recently passed away. I had planned to work on some of the Centennial projects that were on hold (mostly updating the website), but that will have to wait. There were several inquiries about the Distinguished Alumni, and in short, no there were none selected or announced – yet. I forwarded all the nominations to the committee, but I do not believe they met in time to make the selections and contact recipients. I had too much on my plate to do that too, so we still have all the nominations and will have to regroup and try again. I think it is a valuable idea, but there was little interest (few nominations and little alumni help) in the recognition. We already have some nominees, and hopefully we can revisit the idea in the fall. Hopefully we can make it happen, but there was little funding/donation support for the Centennial, and we are still trying to pay off the book. Maybe when the economy begins to recover, we can make more of the Centennial plans happen. You have been so wonderful and supportive, and I regularly check your blog and love the articles. Thank you for all that you do. I hope your summer goes well, and I look forward to keeping in touch.
Blessings,
Dave
